Don't know. I tend to think it a good idea to keep salt water out of the pipeline. I don't see how anything can get fixed and re-certified in less than six months.

I wonder if there are manual valves every so often so that they can isolate sections of the pipeline and protect the rest of it.

Like we do with switches and circuit breakers on the power system.

If one of the pipelines is broken...then both ends must be pumped to keep sea water out....need to install an internal plug that can be sent down to stop sea water flowing.

Seems that one pipe has 2 breaks..
..so the middle section needs to be replaced..........
