Don't know. I tend to think it a good idea to keep salt water out of the pipeline

If one of the pipelines is broken...then both ends must be pumped to keep sea water out....need to install an internal plug that can be sent down to stop sea water flowing.

Seems that one pipe has 2 breaks..
..so the middle section needs to be replaced..........
