That’s all really interesting, but don’t you think that’s why China will team up with Russia and get oil from them? That would solve both their problems. What would be the outcome of that?
It will still take time to build pipelines to deliver oil from Russia to China, and time is the big issue for both countries.
The bulk of the Russian, Kazakh, & Azerbaijani oil production flows west into Europe and Turkey. It would have to travel about 2K miles farther than better oil from the Persian Gulf.
The pipelines flowing east to the port of Nakhodka and into China mostly carry a heavy sour crude from eastern Siberia. The Russians are having difficulty keeping those fields going since foreign oil techs left Russia. Also, the pipelines don't really carry the volume of oil that China needs.
