I can't imagine it went on their sale for what they are now listed at on Ebay! Oh well, you can't keep everything.
That machine ... my mom also sewed on one of those for the longest time. When she was pregnant with my brother it was hard for her to treadle (is that a verb?). So while she sewed, I had to sit in the other side and do it. My sister has it now.
In the ‘60s, she got an electric one, which I’m taking to a quilting retreat next week.
I’ve heard, but am not sure, that sales of treadle machines are as high as “newfangled” electric ones, world-wide. Supposedly, the third-world sewing sweatshops use them.
Thank you!
folks want to keep sewing if tptb decide
no more electricity for us stinky peasants
Same....there’s a nerve in the foot that you can position just right and get your leg to going like a piston for hours with no effort.
Irritates my wife when I do it, as in Japan it is considered an indicator for being poor in some way (yusuri binpo - spelling is wrong I’m sure).
FYI - I’ve been doing this for a few weeks. I’ll do both feet together sometimes, and sometimes alternate. Probably a total of one hour a day.
For weight, I think it helps. I’ll have blood glucose checked in December and I’m eager to see if there has been an improvement.
Excellent! Tell us what comes out of it.
“Excellent! Tell us what comes out of it.”
Reporting in as requested. This must be working, as I do it on and off for maybe an hour or two a day, unconsciously — at computer, sitting in church, reading.
Last June I went off my six-month keto diet which had caused a 25-pound weight loss and better blood sugar levels. I did this exercise instead. In December, neither my weight nor blood sugar level had increased.
If I notice weight creeping up, then I’ll start with my diet again.
My wife often does the exercise while we watch something.
It’s helped her lose weight.
