Prausnitz's lab has been researching microneedles for vaccine delivery for years and realized they could be equally applicable to tattoos. With support from the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs, Prausnitz's team started working on tattoos to identify spayed and neutered pets, but then realized the technology could be effective for people, too.

Correct me if I’m wrong... not being a believer or participant in tatoos...

I thought part of the attraction of displaying the tatoos is to demonstrate one’s tolerance of and or endurance for pain.

While a supervisor at a well known hospital I had an unwritten,unspoken rule...I refused to hire anyone with a viable tattoo regardless of how impressive they,and their resume,were. Unwritten and unspoken because I sincerely doubt that Personnel (that's what we called it back then) would approve.

While in the Army I found that the purpose for my buddies getting tattoos on a Saturday was to have something to pass the time while totally bleepfaced.

No, the vast majority of people I know that have tattoos get them to memorialize something in their lives, or to display a subject they are passionate about. The pain is just an added benefit 😁

There are quite a few retirees in my neck of the woods, and many of them are tattooed, some quite heavily. I can tell you those tattoos don’t usually age well, especially on women. But they’re not at all shy about revealing them in public, most of them.
That is a very poor way to evaluate personnel, especially since you stated their resume and work history WOULD NOT matter if they had a visible tattoo.
