The one time I went skydiving I had a fully-trained parachutist strapped to my back.
I was supposed to pull the cord, but he had to put my hand on the ripcord to remind me to pull it because I was enjoying the freefall too much.
sounds like a real loss to humanity
I tandem jumped for the first time a couple months ago. What a rush. 8000 ft freefall.
Me and two of my kids are going again next month
As fat as I am, they’d have to strap me to two parachutes.
Where I made some (solo) jumps in Oregon, many years ago, there was a guy who was banished from the jump center because he liked to get as low as he could before opening his chute. I watched one day as he got close enough to the ground that I could see the separate fingers on his outstretched hand before he pulled the ripcord, and his main chute was barely open when he landed. I was sure we were about to see him die. All it would have taken was the slightest hangup as the main deployed.
Sometimes I wonder if that idiot is still alive. Probably not.
