I met Gary Webb over a year before he died he was upset but not suicidal. They found him with two shots from two different weapons to the same spot on his forehead head. First with a 16 gauge shotgun blowing his brains out. Picture holding a shotgun to your forehead. I don't think you can reach the trigger.
He placed the shotgun down. It wasn't dropped or thrown. The second a high caliber pistol he blew more of his brains out. After that he managed to throw the second weapon into a near by lake.
coroner called it suicide. Perry County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas said this has "happened before" where a suicide failed and they try again with no example.
His wife knowing the circumstances of his death said, I can't imagine him dying any other way but suicide. If you ask about his death they always cite his wife statement which to me sounds like a statement say out of absolute terror.

Hemingway used a shotgun.
Just once, though...

Picture holding a shotgun to your forehead. I don't think you can reach the trigger.I was a Recon Marine. I don't know if they still do it, but they made us look at pictures of people who were shot in the most horrific ways to desensitize us to the gore associated with people getting FUBARed in battle. One of the pictures was of a guy that had shot himself in the face with a shotgun. It was indescribable. I can still see it.
He used his big toe.
