I heard Ivan say that Trump had no choice in the matter of Pence as VP. The republican establishment was not behind Trump. I think he said that Trump only had 40 percent support from republicans. Ryan, and McConnell and others would only support Trump if their guy was VP.

And they told him this ...? I'm calling BS.
Pence did turn out to be very disloyal if not treasonous (in his tacit going along with 25th amendment talk); HOWEVER, in the 2016 election he played an important role in reassuring the all-important Evangelical voting block.
BTW, Ryan NEVER SUPPORTED TRUMP, so the assertion is false on its face. Ryan was as useless as tits on a boar hog; just like his buddy Pierre Delecto.
I heard that too and I do not believe this for split second. Trump did not kowtow to ahole Rinho traitors and scum to become president, and clearly the VOTERS wanted Trump. If this were true, that would mean Trump's character is as rotten as those who "controlled" him.
Ivan is not seeing Trump's actual character, methodolgy, determination, etc.
PS but Trump could have easily picked a different VP for 2020. And he never needed the support of the RNC, in 2016 or 2020.
Pretty much the same thing they did to Reagan by forcing him to take Bush.
