Personally, having watched the two episodes of Rings of Power I mostly enjoyed it, a lot of the neg comments contain facts, but a lot of criticism, is opinion.
If you enjoyed Tolkien’s Hobbit, Trilogy or past films and are curious about events that occurred beforehand leading up to the War of the Ring, check it out for yourself.
However, ROP is not book accurate either so if deviation from strict canon is abhorrent to the point you feel somehow disloyal to the Author or otherwise unsettled (acid stomach?) then do by all means avoid it!
