FBI Misled Judge in Obtaining Warrant To Seize Hundreds of Safe Deposit Boxes
Reason ^ | 8/19/22 | Eric Boehm

The FBI told a federal magistrate judge that it intended to open hundreds of safe deposit boxes seized during a March 2021 raid in order to inventory the items inside - but new evidence shows that federal agents were plotting all along to use the operation as an opportunity to forfeit cash and other valuables.

Federal agents failed to disclose those plans to the federal magistrate judge who issued the warrant for the high-profile raid of U.S. Private Vaults, a private business in Beverly Hills, California, that had been the subject of an FBI investigation since at least 2019. When the raid took place, the FBI also seems to have ignored limitations imposed by the warrant, including an explicit prohibition against using the safe deposit boxes as the basis for further criminal investigations.

Those details regarding the planning and execution of the FBI's raid of U.S. Private Vaults are now out in the open after a different federal judge ruled this week that the government could not keep those details out of the public record. As Reason has extensively reported, the raid on U.S. Private Vaults resulted in federal agents seizing and attempting to forfeit more than $86 million in cash as well as gold, jewelry, and other valuables from property owners who were suspected of no crimes. Attorneys representing some plaintiffs who are trying to recover their possessions interviewed the FBI agents who planned the raid, but federal prosecutors tried to keep some details of those depositions redacted.

The unredacted legal documents, filed in federal court on Thursday, show why the government was eager to keep those details under wraps. (Reason submitted an amicus brief in the case arguing that the redacted documents should be made public.)

Here we go again!!!

I’m losing almost all my faith in the FBI, esp. Under today’s leadership. Time to frog- march him off to Jail.

Today’s FBI leaders are nothing like those I knew or worked with over the years. Today’s leadership is corrupt to the core. They belong in some prison’s trash heap.

They could have handed judge Reinhart a copy of Mein Kampf as an affidavit and he eould have signed off. All that matters is el hombre naranja malo.

What will it take for a judge to hold them in contempt? All these actions seem like someone who is operating in a mode of contemptuous misuse of process to deprive people of their civil rights.

The FBI told a federal magistrate judge

Interesting ... same tactic they used to "authorized" the Trump raid.

The Feebs' credibility was murdered by a sniper on Ruby Ridge; its corpse was burned to ashes outside Waco.

“Today’s leadership is corrupt to the core. “

Every organization seems to go through a lifecycle. The Annenberg Foundation was started by a conservative, but ended up financing Barak Obama’s Chicago School initiative, which was apparently an attempt to radicalize kids. Annenberg was a conservative who would never have authorized such a thing. Anything worth taking over will be targeted and overtime taken over by radicals who get a job there out of high school and become trusted members until they age into a leadership role. Then, the mask comes off.

Only once they finally admitted there actually was one. The 1957 Apalachin meeting kinda forced the Bureau's hand on that.....made a fool out of J. Edgar.

You only think you own your papers. You only think the bank is carefully guarding your property. The reality is there is no more private property. A corrupt government, acting through its disgraced agency, employing guns, clubs, handcuffs and pepper spray, actually owns everything.

All those amendments? second, fourth, etc. No more than a fond memory.

How can you tell if the FBI is lying? If they are redacting, they are lying.

It’s time for every single FBI agent left with a shred of decency to become a whistleblower.

“...I’m losing almost all my faith in the FBI....”

Almost? Just almost?????.....LMAO.
I lost all faith in these arrogant POSs waaaay back before Waco/Ruby Ridge when I had one for a neighbor. He made it a point to let everyone in the neighborhood know who and what he was. Unfortunately, he lived right next door to us.
Our back yard had a fence so our dog couldn’t get out, but one of us would always go outside with the dog anyway. He came up to the fence one morning and said to me; “Nice dog, great target. Keep him on your side of the fence. Wonder what the poor people are doing this morning?”
I immediately grabbed the dog and said: “I’m pleading the 5th Amendment right now and every time that you should ever speak to me. Unless you got a warrant, I’m leaving right now.” And I headed to the house. He didn’t think it was funny.....neither did I. We never spoke again.
He finally moved away about a year later. There was no one in the neighborhood sorry to see him leave.
