In a twist I didn't expect this early, the US military is starting to withdraw equipment in active service to send to Ukraine.

I have no doubt that Saab and its contractors will quickly be awarded contracts to produce more and that US troops will soon get new and more advanced versions than what they are now giving up.

Its already happening. The US is switching to a new lighter version called the M3E1.

Xi can turn all that “sanctioned” oil into Russian weapons as long as we keep borrowing and sending our weapons to the Ukrainian quagmire. It’s nice that we will use our cannon fodder Ukrainians while Xi uses his cannon fodder Russians. WWIII starts when we try to run the Chinese blockade of Taiwan and get one of our carriers sunk in the process.

that can't be a thing. It doesn't make any sense. Sec def is collecting all the Carl Gs in the inventory and sending them to Ukraine

Complete nonsense. US is switching to a new improved version called the M4, or in USA (M3E1 MAAWS).

The M3E1 is the US version of the M4. An updated M3 using titanium makes the weapon system six pounds lighter, 2.5 inches shorter and has an improved carrying handle, extra shoulder padding and an improved sighting system that can be adjusted for better comfort.

The one thing I see (and I've been out for awhile) - the Carl G. is new for the Marines, fielded in '21 and sent to SOI for Marines to train on. Lejeune INFANTRY units are supposed to get them, and they won't be fully fielded through the Corps until 2024.

I'm not certain why an artillery unit would be complaining about them (the Marines are also downsizing their artillery units - and disbanded/ing their tank units).

Revolver wouldn’t post it if they hadn’t sourced it.

You just are unable to see the forest for the trees.

According to this poster m777s were taken from active duty Marines in the Spring.

And I find it amusing to see some people declare that they were moving to a replacement anyway so it doesn’t matter. Google says they expect all Marines to have the replacements by the end of 2023. I am sure they will have no need for them before then...:-)

Marine Corps sent two battalions worth of M777 howitzers from 11th Marines (active duty) back in the spring.

That NATO super-fop Stoltenpoop has been telling Euroweenies that they will need to make sacrifices in their lifestyles (like feeding their children) for the sake of Kiev and all the “industrial scale corruption” as Der Welt puts it....

thanks you for that info.

Also I have never heard of the rank or position in the US Marines of “Grp CDR “. Seems more of a British thing.

One thing I would assume to work in Russia’s favor... Russia, in all likelihood, does not need to buy or import anything from anybody else to produce artillery shells or rockets. They can just leave the switch in the ON position at the factory...

The red will be just as happy or more so to be involved with war. Mitch.

Certainly I want red over blue but both parties are destroying us.

*snip*
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced on Tuesday that he chatted with President Joe Biden last week in an effort to secure a multi-billion dollar aid package to Ukraine while claiming that his Senate colleagues agree that the war in the Eastern European nation was “the most important thing in the world right now.”

LOL, Russian rockets and precision-guided artillery shells rely on western components.

The RUSI report, Silicon Lifeline: Western Electronics as the Heart of Russia’s War Machine, says more than 450 foreign-made components have been found in Russian weapons recovered in Ukraine. The report’s authors say Moscow acquired critical technology from companies in the United States, Europe and Asia in the years before the invasion.

“It doesn’t appear that they actually have the ability to reproduce – at least to the same level of sophistication and at scale – a lot of these critical microelectronics. These are the ones that would be absolutely essential for, for example precision-guided munitions which have very sophisticated processing units,” Gary Somerville, a research fellow at RUSI’s Open-Source Intelligence and Analysis Research Group.

That includes Russia’s Iskander 9M727 cruise missile, one of its most advanced weapons. RUSI researchers recovered some missiles in the field inside Ukraine and inspect the microelectronics inside.

They found several Western-sourced components, including digital signal processors, flash memory modules and static RAM modules made by U.S.-based companies including Texas Instruments, Advanced Micro Devices and Cypress Semiconductor, along ethernet cabling that originated from American, Dutch and German companies.

Russia’s Kh-101 cruise missiles, some of which targeted the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, were found to contain 31 foreign components.
