For all you know this was done by the KGB as a false flag operation. And the fact that the KGB has capabilities does not mean that the Ukrainians or CIA had intent. Those two things are in opposite universes in real terms.

I think that for a while now Dugin was a liability for Kremlin. He had attained a too high profile to be allowed to say the quiet things out loud.
