KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Frustrated that his congregation didn't buy him a luxury watch, a pastor in Missouri called them "poor, broke, busted and disgusted" during a recent sermon.
According to The Washington Post and NBC News, a video clip of the Aug. 7 sermon posted on TikTok showed Rev. Carlton Funderburke of the Church at the Well in Kansas City telling his congregation he was upset they weren't "honoring" him with a Movado watch.
“That’s how I know you still poor, broke, busted and disgusted, because of how you been honoring me,” Funderburke said in the video, according to the news outlets. “I’m not worth your McDonald’s money? I’m not worth your Red Lobster money? I ain’t worth your St. John Knit — y’all can’t afford it nohow. I ain’t worth y’all Louis Vuitton? I ain’t worth your Prada? I’m not worth your Gucci?”
He later informed them during the sermon that the watch could be bought at Sam's Club.
"And y'all know I asked for one last year. Here it is all the way in August, and I still ain’t got it," he said in the clip, the news outlets reported. "Y'all ain’t said nothing. Let me kick down the door and talk to my cheap sons and daughters."
According to the news outlets, the video was posted by the digital media company The Kansas City Defender.
On Tuesday, The Church at the Well posted a video of Funderburke apologizing for his "inexcusable" remarks.
"Though there is context behind the content of the clip, no context will suffice to explain the hurt and anguish caused by my words," Funderburke said.
I’d mug him on the steps after the service and take the watch he’s got now.
He was thinking small. Should have demanded a new business jet.

(Oh Lord Won’t You Buy Me A) Mercedes Benz
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches
I must make amends
I worked hard all my lifetime
No help from my friends
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A Mercedes Benz?
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A color tv?
Dialing For Dollars
Is trying to find me
I wait for delivery
Each day until three
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A color tv?
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A night on the town?
I’m counting on you, Lord
Please don’t let me down
Show me you love me
And buy the next round
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A night on the town?
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches
I must make amends
I worked hard all my lifetime
No help from my friends
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
A Mercedes Benz?

In his “apology”, he claims there was a context. What could that context possibly be? Unless he was joking. But then he wouldn’t need to apologize. But insulting his congregation by calling them names couldn’t be a joke or an off the cuff remark. His congregation needs to boot him out. He is clearly in the ministry for the wrong motives.
And what’s with wanting a really expensive watch? I have never understood what is so great about them. It seems to me they are mainly status symbols worn by people who want to show off.

Agent can’t be trusted?
People in Hell want ice water.
“It’s the LORD’S Audemars. I’m just Jesus’ watch carrier.” It’s amazing people follow these charlatans. Same type of people that wear their face diapers and worship at the altar of Saint Fauci of Science.
Sometimes Pastor can rightfully feel unappreciated. No more than Jesus.

Hillbillies know hard work
1. Don't pay attention to what the preacher is saying and just yell "Amen!" at the end of the sentence out of habit and would do so even if he started imploring everybody to worship Satan.
2. Think everything the preacher says is directed at someone else but them, because of course they are above reproach and the preacher would NEVER call THEM out for anything.
What an embarrassment.
Just wow.
I wonder what unemployment benefits are for unemployed pastors.

That’s due to the Brandon economy!
Looked him up and not surprising he looks like a “bling bling” pastor.
The dirt bag should have used the Jim Baker method and told the folks he really needed that watch to time the stove in the soup kitchen——the one where they cook up the stuff for the starving neighbors around the ‘hood.
Reminds me of the late Dr. Gene Scott who ordered his listeners to “get on the damn telephone!”
