This summer Larry Smith grew kohlrabi, lima beans, black cherry tomatoes, zucchini, five kinds of string beans, six types of peppers and more on a plot in Portland, Ore. Now he hopes the bounty is good enough to make him a champion gardener—once again.
The 65-year-old has won that title at the Clackamas County Fair every year since 1999, except for 2020 when the pandemic prompted the event’s cancellation.
“Obsessiveness” explains his long-running success, he said ahead of this year’s fair, which starts Tuesday. “I don’t think I’m the world’s best gardener, but I outwork people when it comes to the competitions. I don’t take vacations in the summer.”
“I just like to do it. I love sewing, making things. I love cooking and baking,” said Ms. Skeens, 74. She appeared on NBC’s “Today” show and was congratulated by a Walmart checkout clerk. But normal life has resumed in rural Virginia, she said: “I’m back to being me. I’m cleaning my house today.”

I asked for the recipe, you would have thought I was asking for his wallet. I brought a piece home for dissection.
The internet knew all about it.

How long before the local commies either destroy it all or just steal it?

At my age, I'm ready to settle down with a good woman and willing to relocate. If you have the time, and are interested, call me Ms. Skeens, would love to meet you.

What happens when you get to the top and realize you’re on the wrong ladder?
And do not forget...
Can You Copyright a Recipe?
Recipes are usually not protected by copyright due to the idea-expression dichotomy. The idea-expression dichotomy creates a dividing line between ideas, which are not protected by copyright law, and the expression of those ideas, which can be protected by copyright law.
There are rare times where the idea and the expression of the idea are so intertwined that there is only one way, or very few ways, to express the idea. When this is the case, that expression of the idea is not protected by copyright law. A recipe’s list of ingredients, or simple directions, is so intertwined with the idea of that recipe that there are very few ways to express this idea; so, a simple list of ingredients or simple directions will not usually be protected by copyright.
