Casket gets knocked over at Bay Area funeral where massive family fight breaks out

A massive brawl broke out between up to 20 family members during a funeral for an elderly woman in Richmond on Aug. 6, leading to one injury, one arrest and $20,000 in damage, officials said.

The Richmond Police Department said it responded to the Rolling Hills Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. after several reports of a "chaotic altercation" between eight to 20 family members who were reportedly armed.

Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy said it was an instance of family drama that started between a brother and a sister who were attending their mother's funeral and who do not get along — and "it goes back many years."

The brother and sister sister were talking and got into an argument, when her boyfriend came over and encouraged her to walk away, Pomeroy said.

"The brother started beating on the boyfriend, and that's when it escalated and it became a brawl and we started to get calls," he said.

At some point during the physical fight, the brother got into the vehicle with the intention of driving over his sister, Pomeroy said.

"He attempted to drive toward his sister in an aggressive way, but instead he struck another female and sent her to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries," he said. The victim is 33 years old.

In the car, the brother also damaged the grass, knocked over and damaged headstones and vases, and broke a water main that ejected copious amounts of water and flooded the funeral plot, Lt. Matt Stonebraker, a spokesperson for the department, said.

The driver also reportedly knocked over the casket, but Stonebraker said the body didn't fall out.

When the brother got out of the car, a family member hit him in the head with a cane, injuring him, Pomeroy said.

I told him he should write one. With a Southern perspective. Could do a series of short stories.

**Nobody in modern times has ever evangelized the black population that way.**

Philly preacher Gino Jennings RIPS the black community, telling them how pathetic they are, listing all their horrible sins against God, mocking their lifestyles (including the perverts), telling them: It’s heaven... or hell!!

His following is growing rapidly worldwide. He gets death threats, especially from the pervs, but keeps on shouting it.

When I moved to Appalachia, I was told that funeral home visitation could be on a Pay Per View. There is almost always some kind of drama involving mooching relatives and drugged-up family.
“Mawmaw said I could have her car”
“It’s leased”
Then they descend on the house like buzzards.

The worst was vehicles in the Memorial Day Parade decorated in memory of their Grandma.

I just buried my father. There were some tears ... but “tensions”??? No. Not a bit.

Maybe it’s different in certain “communities”.

Mexicans, Amish?

Hate to say it, but in this case based on location and the event, it was probably Mexican.

I grew up Mexican, and no wedding or funeral was complete without a massive Blazing Saddles-size fight breaking out before it was over. That goes for holidays and kids birthday parties too. Fun times, actually.

I imagine someone was left out of the will. Nothing like money (or lack thereof) to start a fight at a funeral.

Then they descend on the house like buzzards.

Many years ago, part of the family was in the funeral business in a staid midwestern state. Heard and learned a lot from the old timers, but one of the things that really has stuck is the practice of putting a trusted family member or local sheriff's deputy in the LOCKED house during the funeral and/or visitation.

Inevitably, someone WILL show up during this time to acquire some 'promised' item or items. If you're polite, you can give them a card with the executor's name and number - if not, a shotgun muzzle and a 'f**k off!'

The brother, a 36-year-old from Bay Point,

City-data.com says that Bay Point is majority Hispanic (65%), 10% black, and 12% white, with the rest a mix of other races including Asians and native Americans.

My next door neighbor died last July. They found him dead in his truck after 4 days. Vietnam vet, horrible health. He had not been in contact with his kids in 40 years. They descended on the house, threw his mattress in the yard and started ransacking. One kid even drove the truck to his house 4 states away.
I never heard what happened to the body and I hear they quit paying the mortgage but won’t sell the house. These are fairly normal stories around here. Lady up the street went to church with us and she didn’t have a funeral because one sister refused to allow it.
When our uncle was killed in Korea, someone broke into the house during the funeral and stole the Christmas presents. Everyone suspected a relative.

Never talk about knowing what is in the will at a funeral.
