I’m depressed alternating with angry. I do not drink or smoke
so that limits my escape routes.

Plus I am still in grief for the death of my dear wife of nearly 50 years, earlier this year.

The unrelenting bad news for years has taken a toll on all of us. I remember saying to a liberal (old term) at work “Every day the news is bad news and sometimes really bad.” She said “I don’t think it’s bad. Just cheer up.” “I didn’t say it was your political view’s bad news——it’s mine.” It was about Bill and Hillary getting away with everything as detailed on Free Republic.

Much worse today. But I know anger is risky for stroke and heart attacks so I try to cool it.

Note: Dr.Ray Guarendi (Catholic psychologist author and TV & radio host) reported that it has been found anxiety and anger are directly antithetical to each other. I notice myself when I am in a rage the anxiety is gone.

Hang in there, FRiend.

Prayers for you on the loss of your wife.
It’s no comfort to say ‘I know/understand’ because I don’t. You lose the better part of yourself when that happens.
I do believe you will be reunited in a better future where the present evil cannot exist.

Try this it can help also if you have issues from old events (don’t we all?). Too often, I have to recall RAT memories.

For healing that far surpasses all else esp. expensive counseling. Emotional Healing in 3 Easy Steps paraphrased from Dave Hayes pen name Praying Medic:

RAT:

1.) Recall a bad memory and your strongest negative emotion.

2.) Acknowledge God as the great healer/physician and ask Jesus to remove the negative emotion completely.

3.) Then ask him to replace it with the opposite positive emotion.

examples
Afraid ~ Courageous
Angry ~ Happy
Anxious ~ Content
