Define “ON”, as used here.

I like the preposition:

  1. paid for by:
    "the drinks are on me"
     
    But this might work better:
    used as a function word to indicate involvement or participation
    on tour
    on the team
    on duty

So, “ON” = A part of.
Implied is “in on the planning of” but not physically present at MAL.
