If it fits in a trash can, the collection gang will generally take it. I have noticed that their truck can pick up my generic can and dump it without human intervention, so I can hide things in there that they tend to not want us to dump.
Of course, there's always the old "dumpster behind the store" trick, but I wouldn't want to be tossing a lot of stuff out that way either. And there are also "cameras on the dumpster behind the store" now days, so they got your number.
We are quarter mile from town recycle center - you cant dump just anything there but stuff like glass, plastic jugs or shipping materials, cardboard boxes or paper waste they’ll accept. No Styrofoam.
