No mention of who would be portraying David Rockefeller?

It’s called “acting” for a reason.

What about Peter Falk (Twilight Zone "The Mirror") and Woody Allen (Bananas)?

Peter Falk played a Castro-like dictator in an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Everyone knew that his character was actually a depiction of Castro, right down to the fatigues, rebel hat, and cigar.

Add Peter O’Toole as “The Man of La Mancha”.

Leguizamo is Colombian
A Cachaco from Bogota
Not Caribbean as he sometimes appropriates

He is predominately Spaniard like most high end Colombians

European

He is actually by his definition no different than Penelope Cruz or Javier Bardem or Christina Ochoa

Relegated to European roles

They never get it right

It’s a privilege from him to play Puerto Ricans as often as he does

Castro was a first generation Cuban.. his father came from Galicia Spain, and his mothers family was from the Canary Islands... James Franco is half portuguese. I guess that’s not Iberian enough lolol

No opinion yet from Mr. Leguizamo on Ana De Armas portrayal of Marilyn Monroe.

The character Tony in West Side Story was NOT Latino. I think the character was Polish, maybe? That was the point - the lovers were crossing an ethnic barrier.

Not all Latinos are “brown.” For centuries, Latin America was ruled by white guys—Spaniards, Portuguese, and Frenchmen. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, thousands of immigrants from Italy, Germany, England, Wales and other European countries also came to Latin America as did adventurers, Confederate sympathizers, Mormons, drifting cowboys, and others from the US.

Dear Entertainment Industry,

Look, other then when you flagrantly cast someone who does not remotely appear like the source material on film, I honestly don’t care what their actual ethnicity of the actor is... If you can make them appear to be what they should, I really could care less.

When you ignore the source material and decide to change the ethnicity or other characteristics of the source material and I am familiar with the source material, I see it as NOTHING BUT PANDERING.. period, because at the end of the day, that’s all it is.

There is no “Hispanic” race you Amurcan morons (like Leguizamo). I was having this very argument with a hood-raised Nuyorican friend two weeks ago. Fidel Castro’s father was from Spain (Galicia) and had light hair and was pale. His maternal grandparents were from the Asturias. In other words, the Castro brothers are white guys. Don’t get me started on Ernesto Guevara-Lynch, the Basque/Irish white kid better known as “Che.”

Methinks that actor John Leguizamo auditioned for or wanted the role and did not get it?

Many of the Hispanics he cited were Spanish and many Spanish are very white.

Also he has played Italians several times, so he needs to shut the hell up.

John Leguizamo is not any of the characters he does as an actor. He should therefore be unemployed.

He is though a racist.
