I got t-boned and almost killed by a 19 yr old girl having an argument with her boyfriend when she shot out of a street where there was a stop sign….and she moved so fast that even though I stopped at that intersection because I knew the folks who lived on that street weren’t really good on traffic signs, she shot up just as I was in the middle of the crossing.

If I hadn’t remembered the most important rule of all…always keep control of the vehicle….I would have let myself lose the wheel and go into a culvert where many people had lost their lives. Thank you Defensive Driving class!

But the funny part of the story, is that Tanisha (I think that was her name) got out and threw herself down on the ground and had a fit. She had survived even though the engine had crashed through the wall and was in the seat next to her.

What she was really worried about was that it was her Daddy’s car (and insurance) and she was screaming that he was going to kill her, Maybe he should have, but he didn’t. He had the basic minimum insurance, so I didn’t get enough to even make a down payment on a new vehicle.

But personally in the case in LA, I don’t think there was a vehicle malfunction. She was just mad at her boyfriend, which apparently trumps all common sense.

That’s crazy. In May, I was hit by some dude fleeing a traffic stop in Pensacola. He blew a stop sign and hit me in the right rear coming out of a cross street. I was personally uninjured, but I tried to swerve, so that likely lessened the impact. If I had reflexively jammed on my brakes, the destruction would have been epic.
