I think he'd die for Beethoven.....
I think Hitler would have been Rammstein fan.
“The Geese & The Ghost” was well-worn on my turntable at the time.
I could see him in the mosh pit of a Rammstein concert.
btw - saw “Musical Box” (tribute band) do the Lamb Lies down on Broadway album. Genesis sold them all the props, videos, etc. A worthy effort.
This was supposed to be Phil’s first solo song, but the label pulled it.

RE: Modern Prog
Perhaps you should give Neal Morse a try - or his “band” Transatlantic. Look up “Transatlantic - The Whirlwind” on youtube sometime.
And of course, there’s always Marillion and many others.
Prog’s not dead, you just have to look a little deeper to find it these days.
Re: A-holes
Sirius XM Deep Tracks has an interview with someone, I think one of the guys from REO Speedwagon, talking about Steve Tyler and Aerosmith. That when they went on tour warming up for Aerosmith, they got treated first class, with backstage passes, entré to the after party, etc. And that he’d learned from that, and when REO made it big, they always treated their warm up acts similarly. It’s just a nice story the complete opposite of the big egos / a-holes that is so common.
>> One of the best prog bands was Kansas. Song for America.
I saw them about 6-7 years ago at Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, about 5th row left of center. They were still great!
Musically, Pink Floyd is 1000 times better than Phil Collins.
But lyrics writer Roger Waters IS a nut.
My fav Steve Hackett song - “Let Me Count The Ways”.
Played the heck out of the Voyage of the Acolyte album. Phil’s playing on “Ace of Wands” is fantastic.
The guys from RUSH said the same thing about KISS who they opened up for back in the day. “Say what you will about Kiss’ music, but they sure knew how to put on a show and were very professional, worked hard, and treated their fans and us very well.”
Roger Waters is NOT Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is not a “he”. It’s a band.
IMO, The Wall is not their best album. There’s some good stuff, but also a lot of Roger Waters garbage.
Which one's Pink?
LOL, then there was what Gene said about Rush.....Farm Animals?!?!?!
Have you seen the YYZ video they just put out? Alex and Geddy make a cameo at the end, it’s pretty funny.
“Emerson, for all his exhibitionism on stage, was a class act off stage and gentle soul who primarily wanted to be remembered as a composer.”
Back in the 1990s I couldn’t find a certain ELP song in sheet music form anywhere, even online, aside from Keith Emerson’s publishing company. The check (just $11 for one song) was to be made payable to “Keith Emerson” himself and not some company name like “Keith Emerson Ltd” or anything like that.
I figured as well-off as he had to be, he wouldn’t cash my little check.
But he did (OK it probably WAS a company, but it sure didn’t look that way). :-)
He’s been gone for over a decade now but there never was a better keyboard player in his genre of music — except maybe Rick Wakeman. If pressed, I’ll call it a tie.
Not sure if you're serious or making a joke based on the line from "Have A Cigar".
I wouldn’t slag off Tony Banks. Listen to his piano intro of “Firth of Fifth” or his solo on “Riding The Scree”.
You should know me better than that, LOL!
