How would Donald Trump be a threat to the Republic if
he was President again? How is he a threat now?

Would he:
1)Antagonize China by making a show-off visit to Taiwan?

2)Would he start trouble with North Korea and cause them
to shoot missiles over Japan.

3)Perhaps Trump would annoy Russia and cause them to invade
one of their neighbors?

Remember that Bush wanted to put his utterly unqualified crony Harriet Miers on SCOTUS and the universal outrage forced him to ... very reluctantly ... pull her nomination and he put Alito in instead. I suspect he had no idea that Alito was actually going to be a great justice and that Bush regrets it very much.

Basically Bush's one good legacy item was a lucky accident.
