Neighbors right behind us keep chickens. I’m in a typical looking suburban 1/3 acre lot neighborhood - chalk it up to “Things You Can Do With No HOA” (and it helps that it’s unincorporated, too). They only keep them for eggs, though, not meat, and I think there are fewer than ten, so we haven’t heard any undue squabbling. (Although I have had to pitch a straying one back over the fence on more than one occasion.) They have many cats too, who come over to visit often. They are all well fed (courtesy of Chewy.com, not chickens! lol)
Probably no rooster so they would be pretty quiet. Who knows you may need them for eggs in the future.
