The British were arrogant, and looked down on the colonists as not being equals, and believed we were weak. We all know they underestimated the militia units, and our uniformed regiments. They believed that if they could drag the war out, pick us off little by little, they would destroy the colonists will to fight, that we'd give in, and negotiate a truce. Plenty of Britains are still arrogant, and look down their noses at us. And I say that as a person whose majority of DNA on my mother's side comes from England, Wales and Scotland.
