For some time I have wondered how to explain the cause of the Civil War in simple terms that are easy to understand. I now see that Ayn Rand did it years ago. Laws passed by a Northern controlled Congress routed all the money produced by the South into Northern "elite" pockets.
“Texas v. White, 1869 declared secession unconstitutional.”
Victors’ justice. Nothing more.
No. The rule of law Reb.
Suck it up.
Would have been, but the US government stole that money.
Couldn't have people challenging the economic dominance of DC and it's corrupt influencers from the Northeast.
Derick Chauvin murdered George Floyd.
We know.
The South launched a war and LOST!
Take your meds already.
🎓
That is certainly very simple.

Lincoln sent a fleet of warships to Charleston with orders to attack them.
Show me Lincoln’s orders for the warships to attack Charleston.
No war. At least until Porter starts it in Pensacola.
Lincoln was going to have his war. He needed that war.
Secession and the Confederacy did NOTHING to improve the lives and economy of ordinary Southerners.
In the end it ruined them.
I see you are still being simple.
S-i-m-p-l-e.
The first warship “Harriet Lane” arrived and fired on the Nashville.
Nashville was sailing without a national flag and without the customary navigation lighting. Any warship in anyone’s navy would have fire a shot across her bow to determine nationality and intent. Once she identified herself and lit her navigation lights, she was allowed to proceed into Charleston harbor.
Well not after northern states invaded them and killed them. The problem with their lives had nothing to do with the Confederacy and everything to do with being attacked by people who wouldn't leave them alone.
But for a brief period between November of 1860 and March of 1861, their lives improved quite a lot. New businesses were opening up and money was streaming into their cities. All the hotels in their cities were full up and construction was began on new warehouses, hotels, docks and various other businesses.
But yes, if unwanted government thugs start killing people, it tends to make their lives worse.
I like your response. You not only admitted that the Harriet Lane was a warship, but you also admitted that it was at the harbor entrance, and that it fired on the Nashville.
I'm sure they could hear the cannon shots at Beauregard's HQ.
The census every ten years lists the agricultural outputs of the States. So it is easy to see how much wheat is grown in Indiana, how much tobacco in Virginia and how much cotton in Alabama.
You may also be unaware that the Orders Lincoln gave to Lieutenant David Porter would have started a war in Florida if the effort to start it in Charleston failed.
please cite the orders Lincoln gave to Porter to start a war in Penscola.
During the War, Kentucky provided 44 infantry regiments, 17 cavalry regiments and 5 artillery batteries to the Union Army.
The state provided 9 infantry regiment, 16 cavalry regiments and 8 artillery batteries to the Confederate Army
Haven't we been over that one too? My recollection is that I told you I couldn't find those orders and then you produced some orders. What wasn't completely established is whether or not those were the only orders.
Judging by Porters actions, he either exceeded them greatly in his efforts to antagonize the Confederates (shooting at their ships) or we haven't seen all of his orders.
the first successful cotton harvesting machine did not come about until the late 1920s.
