I first encountered speculation about the "Greenhouse effect" in the 1966 popularization of science by the great science fiction writer, Isaac Asimov: Understanding Physics.
There is no doubt in my mind that Asimov was deliberately fed this story for inclusion in the book. It might even have been the real reason for coming out with a book that was so far off of Asimov's normal playing field.
