> I wonder just how many engineers and marketing analysts at Ford have been sending out their resumes since no one at Ford listens to them. <

“Ford plans…..”
*********************

Sure… and I “plan” to be worth over two billion dollars by 2026.

Will that be reality? No but it’s important that I “plan”for that goal. Just like Ford!

Why? The power grid can’t support them.

Nobody is going to force you. The only folks that will feel forced are those that buy a new vehicle every 3-4 years or folks who allow peer pressure to sway them. The rest of us will continue to drive our gas powered vehicles. Some of this is due to oil and gas company’s supporting carbon capture (if not directly participating) so the Co. is carbon neutral. Exxon is one, for example.

This may be the game. Look, if it blows up, they can claim that they were only following the policies that the government was promoting with regard to EV’s. It certainly would bolster an argument that they should get a bailout. On the other hand, if it succeeds, well, then it succeeds.

Any sane corporate exec: “But…” Then he's cancelled. This is Ford, this is the USA, lol.

No way to deal with current events other than as entertainment.

Where are we getting all the electricity to charge these vehicles?

We don’t have enough electricity to cool everyone’s homes and keep the lights on now. And they aren’t building new generating plants. It will take 5-10 years to build a single generating plant with all the environmental red tape.

I predict a law of diminishing returns on the availability of the raw materials for the batteries. The elements that go into the batteries is not like mining iron ore for steel making.

The vehicles are powered by coal. But they show the world how much we care.

“What are the electric utilities doing to support this?”

Great question. While I don’t really know, I’ve been told by others that at least around my area, the local grid can literally not handle more than 3-4 of these vehicles recharging at the same time. And I’ve been told that many homes are not wired to provide the electrical current required to recharge, without hiring an electrician and installing upgraded wiring.

At gunpoint, they are shutting down power plants.

Nothing. Too few people consider generating electricity capacity and SUPPLY… and infrastructure to deliver.
