Are the stories you wish to examine as far fetched as the story that started this thread?
Perhaps they are, in some cases.

But of course you ignore the debate that ensues, and I doubt that you are
privy to the private conversations connected to such stories when they
happen, nor that you understand what happens while we look at everything,
to try to understand what its purpose in the narrative actually is.
