Classic rocker David Crosby kicked a virtual hornets’ nest on Saturday when he complained about the quality of a portrait a fan shared on Twitter, calling it the “weirdest” painting of himself that he had ever seen.
Crosby — formerly of the folk rock group Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young — took things a step further, telling the artist not to give up his day job for a career in art.
“Hi @thedavidcrosby hope you are keeping well. Did a picture of you…. Thanks for the music,” the artist captioned his work.
“That is the weirdest painting of me. I have ever seen …..don’t quit your day job ……” Crosby replied.
“How’s this one, Dave? I just drew it quick, with the look on your face when you realize you may have come across like an asshole here,” @deebsFLA replied, sharing another drawing.
“Crosby, still an a**,” author Kealan Patrick Burke added.
Bill Corbett, “Mystery Science Theater 3000” alum, quipped, “Send up the Phoebe Bridgers bat-signal.”
“El contexto,” he added, referencing the time Bridgers called Crosby a “b****.”
“Bro you should be thankful you’re still getting fanart, I thought you were dead,” @girldrawsghosts added.

Best wishes.”
Perhaps we need to bring that back.

Dave Crosby ignored Mae West’s classic line - there is no such thing as bad publicity.
The fan’s image would have had less of a publicity shelf life, and Dave a better public image, if he had just said “Thanks” and left it at that.
Instead he gave up a lot of publicity energy to the fan.

They were always weird. Well before they were entertainers.
Think back to your own high school days. There was a guy in my high school who was in the chorus. The band. He was always the male lead in all the school plays. His friends were all girls. He was a decent looking guy. He was either the smartest guy in the school(and getting more tail than the rest of us) OR he was light in the loafers. I suspect he was the latter. These are your extrovert entertainer type personalities. This guy could have gone on to be an actor/singer/musician/entertainer. I never heard what happened to him.

I was never convinced that Crosby added that much to the group, his history with the Byrds notwithstanding. His “success” seems to be from standing in the shadow of truly talented musicians like Roger McGuinn, Graham Nash, and Steve Stills. Check out “Treetop Flyer” and then look for any solo performance by this fatheat that comes anywhere close.

The thing is Melissa’s “wife” apparently was straight and never had a same-sex relationship before, she was married to Lou Diamond Philipps, and IIRC is with a man now.
Somebody was talking about what a great thing Ethridge having kids the way she did was and I asked why would anyone want Crosby as a sperm donor. Was there a sale at the sperm bank and his was the only one left in stock? Is she thinking ahead so that her grown up kids will be able to get her good drugs in her twilight years? Woman didn’t like it but I got her thinking.
Melissa Etheridge. I looked her up. Her ‘girlfriend’ at the time had the kids for her with Crosby’s ‘donation.’ Ugh!

He had a liver transplant in 1994.
He destroyed his liver with alcohol and drug abuse.
How he magically ended up at the top of the transplant list has never been explained.
In 2016 he paid $3 million to a jogger he struck while driving drunk to settle a lawsuit.
The officers at the scene never tested Crosby for intoxication. Evidence came out after the fact that he had been drinking and using “non-prescription drugs”. He was never charged.
Some people just live a charmed life. They get to flaunt the rules and everything works out for them.
Of course, he’s still got to stand before the white throne.
