A total of 376 law enforcement officers were at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas when a gunman was at large for over an hour on May 24, leaving 21 people dead.
A majority of the officers were federal and state actors, including 149 US Border Patrol officers and 91 Texas Department of Public Safety officers. Twenty-five officers were from the Uvalde Police Department, and 16 were from the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office.
"They failed to prioritize saving the lives of innocent victims over their own safety," according to an interim report released Sunday by the Texas House investigative committee on the shooting.

To which I’d add, what person in his right mind would now apply to be a Uvalde police officer? So I’m guessing that Uvalde will be putting even worse cops on the street as time goes on.
The cops shoulda surrendered their armor and gunz to the pari.

Each and every one of them contributed absolutely nothing to the situation. Only the Border Patrol agent did the right thing.

First of all I don’t appreciate some of the comments about police officers.....broad brushing if you will. Some of your comments are so juvenile but I will agree this was a cluster of Biblical proportions. Sometime you just have to act alone and worry about repercussions later. Someone should have taken the reins and overruled any, ahem, procedures of whoever was in charge that day. That is what upsets me about this. Please don’t make this a pissing match for whoever can post the most asinine thing that comes out of their heads. Thank you!!!

The most important testimony is obviously from the officers that were in the hallway. There was a time when most Freepers would understand this. However like I said before it seems that FR is becoming a bastion of unhinged leftists. Just look at how excited and giddy most keyboard commando Freepers are to jump on the cops are coward bandwagon regardless of what the facts are.
I feel so bad for those kids and their parents. How awful. I can’t help but think that as he was shooting them with that door shut that outside you could hear the kids screaming and whimpering and crying.
How could those men not rush that door?
The Thursday following the Uvalde school shooting, the elementary school two of my granddaughters attend went on lockdown per text notification.
I grabbed a 1911 and a carrier with six spare mags and threw them into the trunk of my vehicle.
Drove to the school and the two streets that cover the front and one side of the building.
Observed parents picking up kids in orderly manner and; no alarm or urgency.
Circled back to the school and parked in the back parking lot of the church that shared the property of the back side of the school.
Observed a school resource officer stationed at the back door letting staff out to the parking lot.
My position allowed view of the fourth side of the school with playground and adjoining city park.
No alarm or urgency observed.
Stayed in that position for twenty minutes then went back to the house.
