Is That Webb or Hubble, whatever amazing.
It’s the new Webb Hubbell telescope. It took 7 boosters to get it out of Earth’s gravity.
It has a picture of Chelsea Clinton on board. This was done to dissuade any aliens who may encounter it from seeking its origin.
Heh, that’s why I only posted the link. :)
Our God created it all.
God has named them
Besides Creating them,
Absolutely Beautiful!
“Incredible the number of visible galaxies in that one picture.”
Well, yeah, but keep in mind that the image is from several different spectrums of light (such as infrared) that are not visible to the human eye.
Looks like a party.
Makes you realize how insignificant we are. Here's a picture that does that for me.
Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of planet Earth taken on February 14, 1990, by the Voyager 1 space probe from a record distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles, 40.5 AU).
When can I buy the shower curtain? I want the shower curtain!
I once did a sermon (as a lay person) and used a big poster of a Hubble image like this. IIRC the verse was talking about the power and love of God as evidenced by the stars in the sky.
And then using the image to get across the point that what we (and the writer in the Bible) see in the sky is just a very small portion of the stars that are actually there. (And therefore, the power and love of God is so much more.)
I recall saying something like: You know how a parent will stretch out their arms wide and tell their child “I love you THIS much!”. I think this image of the heavens, well, 2% of the heavens, is God stretching out His arms and telling us “I love you THIS much!”.
A patch of sky the size of a grain of sand held at arm's length!
James Webb Space Telescope,
.
Thanks FReepers!
It’s not colorized in photoshop. The light from galaxies here are so red shifted by the universe’s expansion that by the time they reach us they are in infrared. So the wavelengths must be shortened, but that is required in all the JWST pictures.
The more we discover the more mysterious the universe gets. It’s a joke that God plays on us.
wow... what a cluster fk...

You can always tell the James Webb pictures by the familiar diffraction spikes of the foreground stars. The hexagonal spikes are a result of the hexagonal mirrors. I don’t know what the smaller horizontal are, probably some internal structure.
It looks like there is at least one layer of gravitational lensing going on. No Cylons in sight.
“My God. It’s full of stars!”
“All NASA space photos are run through photoshop to colorize and enhance aka make the purty.”
Right. Hubby’s avocation is astrophotography. (He’s setting up for a session right now.) The serious groups constantly criticize NASA for their blatant colorizing and enhancing the images. They’re not even close to actual.
