Yes - very possible.
1) The ships tour in the Med was extended a few months due to the Ukraine situation. Nonskid on the flight deck will wear down after a few thousand launches/traps.
2) While the Med isn’t as bad as Pac or Lant ocean waves they still get some rousing storms there...which is why the bottom is littered with boats
3) Most likely simple failed chock and chain by an aviations mate coupled with improper brake setting + the weather OR the aircraft was being moved and the tilting deck was slippery enough the tow tractor couldn’t keep traction.
4) Reason I say these are most likely is that if it was weather only then they’d have a lot of additional damage in the hanger deck from other things shifting.
5) Scarier part for me is that this hit while they were finishing an underway replenishment and could have ended up much much worse then it did.
