Your sons are Blessed indeed to have such loving and caring parents. You have truly giving hearts, the opposite of the selfish pair in the article who are demanding their wishes to be fulfilled to order. It’s all about them, not the children — while you are all about your children.
It’s so strange that so many believe there are “all these unwanted babies in orphanages” in the US (and in other Western countries) and use this as an excuse for abortion being “necessary” —when the truth is that couples who have already jumped through all the hoops you described are waiting years for a baby, even those willing to adopt special needs babies. And there are no orphanages in the US!
There are many children in foster care, but they are rarely available for adoption before they reach their mid teens and badly damaged from bouncing around through the foster care system all their young lives.
It’s all so very tragic. Wonderful couples who long to adopt, but the unwanted babies are all being aborted and the children of parents unable to parent them are locked up in the nightmare foster care system until they are almost grown and so damaged it takes a *very* rare person willing and able to take on such a teen.

we cared for 4-5 foster children. They were young and were adopted in a short period of time. Our social workers said we would be her worst foster parents because we would get too attached to the children. But we poured ourselves into creating memory books of their first years, and gave those to the adoptive parents. It was a very rewarding time.
We still keep up with one of them.
