A Marshall Plan approach to a condition of war or the threat of war is likely with intervention in non-Russia natural gas supply made up as the United States supplies Europe for most of its requirement.

Russia and Ukraine. If this fails as the “mode” of the conflict, then what has been a regional war opens into a global war.

Idiots need to stop supporting Ukraine and Russia.

Problem solved.

STOP sending OUR GAS to Europe. Euro-weenies and Euro-Trash can just suck it up and accept that their leaders were absolute morons to put ALL their eggs in Russia’s basket.

YES, our leader is an absolute moron too. But ours can Crap His Pants while making STUPID DECISIONS.

If this is the state of things, Venezuela better be a trade partner to Europe.

LNG tankers are risky to depend on in a war. One hypersonic missile and an LNG port facility is toast under an explosion that resembles a small atomic bomb. This is well known. Good luck Eurotrash!

“A terror attack on a tanker delivering liquefied natural gas (search) at a U.S. port could set off a fire so hot it would burn skin and damage buildings nearly a mile away, government scientists say in a report expected to influence where new multibillion-dollar terminals will be built.”

This dolt doesn’t even know that we don’t export natural gas. Yes, I’m being picky.

If Europe had ham, they could have ham and eggs.

If they had eggs.

Sounds like the author, this Daniel Fine guy, got dropped on his head as a wee lad.

Daily. Hourly.

Yeah, we should support neither the rape victim (Ukraine) nor the rapist (Russia).

"Problem solved," indeed!

Wouldn't that idea require the US to produce more natural gas? Or will we, instead, deprive Americans of the natural gas we already produce in progressively curtailed circumstance?

Interesting point of view. I agree that the threat of wider war is closer than in many years, and the probability is high that Biden’s malfeasance will cause this whole misadventure to end badly.

I don’t think he made a convincing case that for the US to rescue Europe by supplying it with all the natural gas it needs will cause the risk of war to recede.

I appreciate his perspective that leads him to urge people to take the Russians seriously and not to underestimate their willingness to persevere. Among some people here and in the West generally there seems to be a tendency to take Putin lightly, and the Biden/G7 approach has a game like quality to it. I’ve never thought Putin was playing games.

Excuse me! Who is the dolt who does not know we have a natural gas pipeline directly into Mexico for us to sell our NG surplus. For anyone who is confused please understand that natural gas is NOT gasoline, and liquid natural gas is natural gas deep frozen and condensed for export. The link below from the US Chamber of Commerce seems delighted at this exporting development.

https://www.uschamber.com/energy/u-s-natural-gas-exports-deliver-more-than-just-energy [This link has several easy to understand graphs comparing the US gas situation with other countries throughout the world.]

“In December 2021, the U.S. exported more liquefied natural gas (LNG) than any country in the world—an incredible achievement for a country whose exports were negligible just a few years ago. Through the first 10 months of 2021, total U.S. LNG exports surpassed $25 billion in value, and IHS Markit is now projecting that America will surpass Qatar and Australia in 2022 to claim global leadership on an annual basis.”

“Finally, as we and many others have documented time and again, natural gas is the primary driver behind America’s world-leading emissions reductions since 2005. Similar reductions can be achieved if this model is deployed globally, not only by replacing coal use in developed and emerging economies, but also because life-cycle emissions of U.S. LNG is often superior to that of gas pipelined from Russia. Add it all up, it’s clear that U.S. natural gas production delivers a trifecta of benefits: economic advantages to U.S. families and businesses, energy security dividends to allies and partners around the world, and substantial greenhouse gas emissions reduction opportunities.”

Personally, I was aware around 2010 that the environmentalists, leftists, and communists in my region were promoting demonstrations against construction of LNG facilities and loading points in the Chesapeake Bay. These demonstrations did not build any general support and died out. Was this Putin (master chess player?) planning ahead for his 2014 move on Crimea, and his previous awareness that by 2012 US major oil companies would be signing exploration contracts with Ukraine for gas and oil development both around Crimea and the Donbass?

Just remember, all graft and payoffs aside, it is ALL ABOUT THE OIL (and NG). The link below is a market based reason. [https://www.marketplace.org/2022/05/23/u-s-oil-refiners-margins-smash-records-but-few-plan-to-build-more-plants/]
