Also, didn’t he drive a Honda Fit? That isn’t a very good car to haul an extension ladder
I’m not experienced in ladder use but I have tried to manage something similar to the one depicted while trying to reach a bee swarm. Virtually impossible to leverage it up against the side of the tree from where it was lying on the ground. My 2 cents - I don’t thing he could do it alone. He doesn’t look like that was an everyday task for him.
