We Should Immediately End Nationalized Funding of Student Tuition: Universities are floating on a sea of taxpayer money, even as they train students to despise America and each other

“Well, I guess the Communists know that the old people living in America today are not going to make the revolution. They are not the people who count. They count on the young people, and those who control the youth are the people who control the future of this country.”

—Former Communist Bella V. Dodd, before the House Committee on Un-American Activities, 19531/

In 2010, President Obama nationalized student tuition loans by making the government the “sole provider” of government-backed college tuition loans. By doing so, Obama effectively eliminated banks as the conduit of choice for government-backed tuition-loan financing. Similarly, when Obama pushed for the government to make Obamacare the “single-payer” a nationalized health care system, the obvious consequence would be to eliminate employer-sponsored and insurance company-provided health insurance from the market.

On March 30, 2010, Obama signed the Health Care and Education Act charging the U.S. Department of Education to make 100 percent of all government-funded college loans, effective on July 1 of that year. In 2010, student loan debt totaled $760 billion. In 2022, the total outstanding student loan debt will more than double to a record $1.7 trillion. In 2017, a study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York concluded that “more federal aid to students enables colleges to raise tuition more.” Raising U.S. higher education tuition costs to a level middle-class families cannot afford is not a problem as long as the government makes the taxpayer pay the price.

Meanwhile, colleges and universities have utilized the increased tuition revenue to flourish into today’s bastion of critical-theory-driven neo-Marxist political correctness.

When you subsidize something, it just gets more expensive.

So if you want college costs to go down...

Trump would have won by about 7 million votes if there were no federal student loans.

I’m all for having the colleges co-sign any loan.

So if some kid wants to major in 8th century French poetry, the college is free to accept him as a student. But when he can’t get a job after graduation, the college can then help pay his debt.

Now here’s the thing. Some colleges really would be foolish enough to accept that kid. Such colleges would eventually go bankrupt, as they should.

The rats won’t play even if the republicrats agree to forgive their loans. Shows you where we all are.

Amazing why we haven’t demanded a justification for a degree in ethnic studies when STEM related degrees are ‘downgraded’. College is a place where the unbaked adults park themselves for 4+. years while trying to figure themselves out. Fine but taxpayer funded?

Starts with GED testing at age 16. Those that pass can then decide how beholden they want to be to others outside of mom and dad.

Loans can make sense if, and this is an important if, IF the college education leads to jobs and a career path which require that college education. And if there are not other funds available from family or savings to pay for that education.

Most college degrees do not pay off in the job market, in terms of qualifying someone for a higher paying job or career, than one can get without college.

Couldn’t agree more. Student loans are a cruel way to fund colleges trapping naive students and hanging them with the bill for government subsidies of universities.

Meanwhile, per Fedzilla’s Department of Education...

“...At the end of fiscal year 2020, the market value of the endowment funds of colleges and universities was $691 billion, which was 2 percent higher than the beginning of the fiscal year, when the total was $675 billion...”

Not to mention that the world they’re preparing their students for it does not exist, has no safe Spaces, is in fact racist currently against white, and for them to buy into all this stuff makes them racist too. I think the colleges should start to pay out to the rest of the country wants to put up with these little twerps

All loans for college education should be stopped. Colleges increased their fees thanks to a guaranteed source of income. When the money stops flowing they will have to reduce their fee structure or fail.

A return to the apprentice-method is the way forward.

Yet another politically perverse consequence centrally-issued, Federal Reserve fiat money, and the massive debt, spending and political and social-engineering it allows.

I love you Corsi, but why did you have to go off the rails and endorse Judas Pence?

That said, the key to taking back our country is to break the back of the communists in our universities that are damaging and abusing and indoctrinating our youth. Many ways to go about breaking their backs and it should be a TOP priority! Most of these universities are publicly funded so there should be many means of making it happen. Get it done!
