There's a mounting body of evidence on how having or being denied an abortion affects pregnant people, including impacts on their mental health and the finances of them and their children. The effects on their male partners have received less attention.
In the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, experts say that no longer should be the case.
"It's really naïve to think that the repeal of Roe is only going to impact women and pregnant people," said Dr. Bethany Everett, a professor of sociology at the University of Utah.
While the issue disproportionately impacts people who can get pregnant, Dr. Everett says it's important to look at abortion access from all sides, as limits on abortion access likely will have broader implications for society as a whole. One in five men have been involved in an abortion, one study finds
Research on the impact of abortions on male partners has been limited, but that doesn't mean the issue isn't relevant to men.
Using existing data from the National Survey of Family Growth, a recent study estimates that one in five men have impregnated someone who's had an abortion. That's likely an undercount, according to Dr. Brian Nguyen, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Southern California, who helped oversee the project.
"Not all men are aware of the pregnancies they cause and those that end in abortion," said Dr. Nguyen. "For some men who may see abortion as a failure on their part to be a better partner or potential father, or for those whose social and cultural backgrounds have made them feel as if abortion is wrong, disclosing an abortion can be challenging or uncomfortable."

“impacts people who can get pregnant,”
I’m going to throw up again.
A paternity test should be done with every baby.
The fathers of the babies have a natural right to protect their preborn baby daughters and sons between conception and birth.
“While the issue disproportionately impacts people who can get pregnant…”
What a shame we don’t have a single, concise English word for the cumbersome, lengthy, and turgid phrase “people who can get pregnant.” Somebody should coin a word to replace that repugnant phrase.
The fathers of the babies don’t want to pay to support them. That’s what this is really all about.
They liked being able to make the woman get rid of the evidence. This decision hasn’t changed things very much, and in most states they can still do so. But they’re terrified now that some of those states might restrict it a bit, and it’s giving them a pain in the wallet.
Now that the woke companies are lining up to pay for women's abortions, what if it's the man who works for such a company and not the woman? Will the woke company give the man the money to take his baby mama to get an abortion, or is this option only available to women who actually work at the company?
Doesn't ObamaCare cover abortions for men, too, along with the mammograms? If a man works for Disney and wants his female friend with benefits to get an abortion, will Disney pay for the man's friend's abortion, too, or is this just a benefit for the female employees?

...women and pregnant people... ???? Guess the Prof. didn’t have a Biology course while getting her liberal arts degrees.
You do understand this is why they lost roe? “Pregnant People” and the likes. All they have done is make republican votes
Allow me to translate.
There is a really sick side of the abortion industry they don’t want anyone to know about. A fairly large proportion are apparently decided or pressured by Men. A lot of pregnant women (and the baby) are murdered by abusive boyfriends as well.
The “progressives” have systematically and incrementally removed all sorts of societal structures that helped keep civilization. This was by design, of course. The dynamics involved in young people’s relationships in our society are completely insane, I can’t imagine how difficult that must be, with the uncertainty and collapsing economy.
Thankfully, the cheerful and coherent messaging of the Democrats- “Shake that ass!” and “Kill yer baby!” are there front and center for our teen youth. It keeps them on an even keel during adolescence.
Accountability is much needed in this world today, especially self-accountability. Bet.

Well said.
There's no such thing as courtship anymore. Now it's "dating" which translates to hasty coupling and hooking up and shacking up.
The societal structures which protected women are largely gone and women are left to fend for themselves. The physical reality of womanhood, the biology, the ability to conceive and give birth, has not changed.
People who push for contraception as a solution to the widespread use of abortion don't see how they are perpetuating and contributing to the problem.
With the widespread assumption that all women of fertile years are on contraception of some sort, men don't feel compelled to exercise prudence, consideration, and restraint.
Further, there is also at the heart of it a healthy desire to have the sexual act seen through to completion and the conception of a child. In a better situation that would be in marriage, but in the harsh world the conceived child is seen as a burden and surplus, garbage to be discarded.
Child support back dated to the month of conception and the associated medical costs of birth. The average uncomplicated birth costs $13,000. Whew boys get ready for those formula ,diaper and medical bills you are now a 18 years long piggie bank. Child support is based on gross income pretax the baby momma gets her cut before the tax man takes his and then you get what’s left. A 21 yo college guy could be on the hook for 18 years at 25% of his gross income pretax or he could vote Democrat this November telling that guy to keep it in his pants will only make for a slew of F words in your direction. I have never seen young people so fired up. So far I have helped over two hundred register to vote we had a whole lecture period where that’s what we did.
Abortion serves men more than anyone. It takes a junior high school level logician to figure that out on the bus ride home.
Men get to be overgrown 17 year olds well into their thirties with abortion and it’s root, contraception.
Men are affected by this ruling. Hello. People don’t know tgat?
They have to see men- males- protesting loudly? Hollywood and media figures ranting? That’s not going to happen. That’s a disgusting position- calling for the killing of their progeny. They’ll leave that task up to the women they’ve taken advantage of.
Men are silent on this as they have been on abortion
Women have been duped They’ve been enabling men lo these 50 years.
“ A fairly large proportion are apparently decided or pressured by Men”
It’s been all about men. Boys. Overgrown boys.
Don’t kid yourself.
Red states need to pass laws that hold the sperm donor 50% financially responsible if the mother wishes to keep the child.
Use the power of the state to enforce it.
If these men do not work, put them into forced work programs. Take them off the streets, absorb all their free time and make them generate the dollars required to care for a child.
If they are in prison, they do to a work program. No options.
Basically as it was before civilization, so shall it be after the sexual revolution.
Mebbe Chad will now have to take actual responsibility and get married to his latest conquest.
What about penised women?
They are really pissed people will have to think about the ramifications of easy unprotected sex.
“Not all men are aware of the pregnancies they cause...”
So NOW they’re admitting that only a male can “cause a pregnancy”.
It hasn’t crossed the liberal mind yet that men and women should be more careful with their sex lives. They still want to use abortion as a form of birth control. Taking personal responsibility is a foreign concept to them.
