DENVER — Hundreds gathered on the steps of the Colorado Capitol Monday evening in support of abortion rights.
Abortion rights rallies have been held across the country in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Monday's event was organized by Colorado's Reproductive Health Rights and Justice Coalition.
Some people shared impassioned speeches, while others handed out information sheets about abortion services offered in the state.
In April, Governor Jared Polis signed the Reproductive Health Equity Act, codifying abortion access and other reproductive rights into state law. Nonetheless, many who gathered at the Colorado Capitol said they were fighting for women in other parts of the country.
"This is absolutely essential because we will not be able to stand for our rights being taken away today and everyday," said demonstrator Elva Escobedo. "We need to be out in the streets demanding that we get more than just Roe, and that all of our siblings in other states have abortion protected in the way that it is in Colorado."

A progressive trifecta!
Wow! Hundreds boy thats something. Thousands gathered at ball parks around the country to eat hot dogs, nachos, and drink beer. Guess RoevWade missed with them. Banning Baby killing must of been ok with thousands.
All of the crowds I’ve seen on the internet haven’t been more than a a few dozen people at the most at any given protest sight.
Lots of evil skanks out there.
It’s like the war in Vietnam. Guys like John Kerry threw their medals over a fence trying to get in some flower girl’s pants. The film clip I saw yesterday of the protest in Phoenix was girls and a lot of guys. Same crap different issue. Guys looking to score and girls to dumb to know better. IMO
I think you are right. A lot of guys were involved in the anti war movement. They didn’t want, so much to get into it, as much as they just wanted to get into women’s pants.
I lived through it, I know what it was. Wearing a uniform in O’hara Airport and getting spit on. Get home, grow your hair long and protest real good and you might get laid. Probably not as good as a LBFM but better than nothing.
I got one of those LBFMs, but not till 1984, when I was stationed in Germany. My son, from her, is a USAF pilot.
Nice. Good on your family. I was speaking more about intent of the times. Hope you and yours stay safe. My daughter was USAF air traffic control. Her mom is an USAF brat. My boy and I were USN. It’s a shame where US are at. Regards.
👍
Hundreds.
In a liberal area usually they can get more than that.
I’d have thought that Colorado people would be out celebrating the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup championship rather than bemoaning the loss of their baby killing cult.
It’s a great sports town so maybe all the baby killers were out celebrating the cup win. Personally I wanted it to go to game 7. Now it’s wait to October for the next NHL game. I was working in Denver when they got their team. Forsberg and Sakic were in their prime. I was teaching a class and told those folks get behind them, they just missed the finals the year before. I don’t like abortion or the Avs but they are a good team. Abortion is murder and maybe the support for it is really not there. IMO
To paraphrase an old Vietnam era slogan, “girls say yes to boys who say Roe”.
There is nothing like “abortion rights”.
