I guess they figure everyone has a cell phone. I finally got one in March. It was actually cheaper for DH and I each to have a cell phone than to continue paying for a land line and his cell phone.

I got my first cell phone in 1990 when I moved aboard my boat. There was no other way to have a phone. To my friends it was a novelty. IIRC, it cost $165 a month plus $1 a minute talk time. ONE DOLLAR PER MINUTE. In those days there was no txt or any other function we take for granted nowadays. It was just a wireless telephone.

I have a smartphone that I got only to use as a mini WiFi tablet - not connected to any service. I found it too hard to read FR on. It seldom leaves the house, and is most often used to play word games. ;-) When I get alerted to a text, I’ll read it, but then run to my PC to answer it - no way can I type on one of those teensy digital so-called keyboards!
