You are likely correct about the military.
In certain forms (sulferated?) adrenochrome is a quick blood clotter and it is issued to field-medics for battle wounds and triage.

Coffee, tea, citrus fruits, bananas, chocolate, cocoa and vanilla can raise epinephrine(adrenochrome) levels.
Again Niacin is the key to keep adrenochrome levels at bay and no fear.
