When I went to Super Bowl XXX in Tempe, AZ, Microsoft placed a CD of IE 2.0 on my seat cushion. I was already using Netscape and the browser that came with OS/2 Warp.

From the article:
Internet Explorer is also not available on Windows 11, where the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge is the default web browser. Microsoft quit, switching instead to Chromium based. Edge has interface deficiencies. It's like the Windows 8 click-for-everything-and-few-key-commansp; in other words, for amateurs.
Edge also opens multiple iterations at the same time. When you try to close them out with the task manager, they keep opening new iterations. It takes five or six "end task" commands to finally get it to shut down.
Between that and Teams, I have to do it at least once a day to keep the machine from bogging down. (That's with 32GB of RAM).

Pre-10 versions of Windows can’t remove it, because IE is an integral part of the operating system.

Yep, you can even type a web address in the top bar of File Explorer, and it will open a new tab in IE with the website, and vice versa if you enter a file path in the IE address bar.

You can download Windows ISOs designed for international audiences where Edge is an optional feature.
Looks for the K or N versions of Windows for a “freer” Windows experience.

I tried a lot of browsers. Edge runs the fastest for me.

Netscape was always better than Explorer.

Never have a problem with Foxfire for the years I’ve been using it after Netscape. Except that its spellchecker isn't very reliable. (Just kidding, I'm a FF user as well.)

That’s cool. Didn’t know that. Will have to give it a try and see how it does with Windows 7.

Me too. I used it up to v9, and switched to Opera.

Me as well. I tend to avoid Chrome although I will use Edge but FireFox is my daily driver for browsers.
