“Of course you can come in. You’re always welcome here, Tom. But where’s that husband of mine?”

“That’s what I’ve come to be tellin’ ya, lass. Im afraid there’s been an accident down at the Guinness brewery.”

“Oh, God no!” cries Maeve. “Please say it’s not so.”

“I can’t, Maeve. Your husband Fergus is dead and gone. I’m that sorry, love.”

“Oh, but how did it happen, Tom?”

“It was terrible, Maeve, terrible. He fell right into a vat of the Guinness Stout and was drowned.”

“Oh my dear lord in heaven!! But tell me, Tom, did he at least go quickly?”

“Well, no Maeve, no. I can’t well say that.”

“The truth is, he got out three times to pee.”
