I understood you to mean “advanced original processing” as being from God. In which case, sentience coms from God’s “advanced original processing.” If that isn’t what you meant, then please explain.
I meant an AI program is made to learn and adjust. It will do things the programmers didn't code in. When it encounters a new situation it can essentially write its own code to deal with it. It may even seem to make human-like decisions. That's the "advanced original" part.
Kinda like raising your kids with certain guidelines. At some point they make their own decisions using those guidelines even if they come up with a different answer than you might have.
An AI will always be a program. No soul involved. Anyway, that's how I see it.
