““10,000 Cattle Die in Kansas [heat]... Putting More Pressure on Food Prices.””
Likely at least 1,000 cattle lost from the Yellowstone River flooding as well
My daughter and son-in-law have been mowing and baling our hay for two days. Yesterday it was 111 degrees outside. The day before was 107. It won’t even be summer for five more days. That doesn’t bode well for the second cutting. We don’t have cattle, but they have goats. Animals are suffering and local farmers are paying almost $6 a gallon for diesel to run the tractors.
Food is going to get scarce if this keeps up and the farmers can’t afford to run tractors and feed the livestock.
