Courtesy is one way of looking at it, but running independently and winning on your own record is important too.
If I was DeSantis, if Trump volunteered his endorsement I would thank him, but I wouldn’t ask for it.

My cat just watched me change his litter, clean floor, etc. Within 2 seconds of filling his box with new litter, he ran over and used it.
