House Republican drops reelection bid after outcry over support for assault weapons ban
Rep. Chris Jacobs is dropping his reelection bid after coming under fire from fellow Republicans for backing a ban on assault weapons. The New York Republican said his newfound views on gun control would make a re-election bid difficult and divisive. “The last thing we need is an incredibly negative, half-truth-filled media attack, funded by millions of dollars in special interest money coming into our community around this issue of guns and gun violence and gun control,” he said in announcing his withdrawal from the race. Last week, Mr. Jacobs shocked many by signaling support for a ban on assault weapons. He also endorsed raising the minimum age.

We need to change the terminology. The AR-15 has been used almost exclusively as a defensive weapon. It was proven such in the Kyle Rittenhouse case and is re-affirmed each time he wins the Sandmann-style civil lawsuits. The AR-15 is seldom used for assaults, but often used as a defensive/deterrent or defense weapon.

Great catch! Yes I do remember that. She is hideous -- both as a person, and in ANY color she wears. I think she'd look great, though, in black horizontal stripes. :-)
Also, didn't people who had met her say she smelled horrible? Like cabbage and farts -- cabbage and urine -- well, cabbage-and-something, anyway . . .

$4.99 in my part of OK. That may "seem" to be a bargain, but keep in mind that it's gone up 30 cents in only 72 hours.
Just traveled fro my home in Midland MI to St. Louis.
I can count on one hand the number of stations I saw with a price OTHER THAN $4.99/gal.

I went to the grocery store today for my weekly shopping, as I have every Saturday for at least 30 years.
Since the advent of covid, the availability of certain products could be delayed and I have learned to normalize this (normalcy bias?). But the product, it does not matter what it is, always became available.
But within the last several weeks and most certainly today, the empty shelves, the stores desperate attempt to just shift product to make the shelves appear full, has become alarming. The product is not always available.
Today, for the first time, I realized that we could experience real hunger, the emptiness was indisputable. In this land that has always had plenty, I realized that we do not have plenty.
I felt guilty for feeling fear because, I know we still have more than other countries, that food is available. But shelves don’t stock themselves. I think we may be in for a bumpy ride.
IIRC, the cabbage fart/urine thing was traced back to a parody.
Her (lack of) personal hygeine, however, was publicly mentioned by someone who knew her some years ago, and I want to say that this might have been around the time that she and Slick Willie were joined in unholy matrimony.

A local city near me is known for lockstep gas prices - it is well-known to be collusion and laughed about by the "important" people - but it has never been so blatant, nor gone so far ouside the city's corporate limits.

I used to wonder how God could bring himself to just wipe out entire cities. To me, that seemed so over the top and extreme.

Lots of individuals on Truth Social pretending to be "groups".
Their purpose is to pull thousands of people from their main news feeds. They do the same on every social media site.
They've swamped TS because it's new. I just block every follower that has a name like *fans, *group, *team, etc.
Then you have the idiots who string long lists of user-IDs that take up entire pages, knowing that everyone who follows them will see their post anyway.
I think they are going all-out because they know they are going to hang.
Following the Devolution reasoning, according to the Executive Orders put into place by DJT, and not rescinded by FJB, Voter Fraud is being treated the same as a War Crime, terrorism, treason, human trafficking, etc.
