Arredondo is NOT the Uvalde police chief. He is employed by the ISD.

There are no stories I’ve seen that Uvalde Chief Daniel Rodriguez was in charge of anything.

Arredondo is NOT the Uvalde police chief. He is employed by the ISD.

A meaningless distinction. Arredondo prevented 19 officers from entering.

The police chief who reportedly made the call not to immediately send officers into Robb Elementary School to confront a gunman was elected to Uvalde's City Council just three weeks ago after running on a platform of communication and outreach to the community. Peter Arredondo, the chief of police for the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, stopped at least 19 officers from breaking into the school as the gunman opened fire for at least an hour.

Thanks for pointing that out. If an earlier post here at FR earlier today was accurate, which the events and timeline seem to bear out, the Uvalde Independent School District PD is actually has jurisdiction over what happens on school grounds according to Texas law.

Jurisdiction over the local cops, the county Sheriff, the Federal Marshalls and the FBI. By my observation of photos, etc, published here at FR, the Texas Rangers seemed to be conspicuous by their absence, in kinda the same way they excused themselves from the scene at the Branch Davidian / David Koresh compound near Waco when the ATF arrived on the scene what, about 30 years ago, which is to their credit.

Let's hope that Governor Abbott follows through on his earlier statement about putting the Rangers in charge of the investigation.
