God has it been 45 years.
Movies were actually good back then, now they woke suck.

Its weird when you tell people you actually saw the movie in the theater when it first was run.
Like they didn’t realize exactly how old you are....

It’s amazing that Heyden Christiansen was available for Return of the Jedi.

And then when you tell them you saw the first moon landing on TV, it’s like you’re telling them you were with the pilgrims getting off the Mayflower.

My brother and I saw the first showing in our town - at midnight.

Try telling them it took you 10 years to watch all the episodes of “Friends”. Watch their faces...

I remember going to see that movie when it came out.
I was blown away. Had never seen anything like it before.

Or when that good number of players in the NHL did not wear helmets and nobody bothered with visors.

I saw an original print of the original Star Wars film re-screened for the 20 year anniversary in 1997.
it was a special invite thing and the popcorn and treats were at 1977 prices.
I was underwhelmed, as it was not nearly as good as I had remembered it being, and the special effects were crap.
I have no problem with crap special effects cause I like brit scifi like Blake’s 7 (plot is what matters)
Just saying the original star wars movie was not what I had remembered it to be.

I remember when all of the first trilogy was in it’s first runs in the theatres, along with the Indiana Jones flicks, Blade Runner, Star Trek (Motion Picture, Wrath of Khan, etc). I remember seeing Chariots of Fire in the theatre and it was really neat with the score by Vangelis (recently RIP).

I wonder if they would do that for the Godfather, with it’s 50 year anniversary this year? And it would be neat to see it in a theatre with the type of original print from the time.

Saw it at The Ridglea Theatre in Fort Worth, line around the building to get tickets. Two years later saw ALIEN at same theatre and it freaked us all out! Screaming and gasping. Back then we had no internet and no cell phones/devices. Fun times.
