I got both shingles shots 3 years ago this coming fall.

Fortunately, the RN, who gave the 1st shots at our HMO was a former Navy RN, and I was wearing a Navy hat. She knew that my wife was a retired RN.

This RN recommended that we not get our second shot at the same time due to some severe second shot reactions.

We had a little sore arm post 1st shot and one Advil, the second night before bedtime, worked for both of us.

So I got my second shot by myself in mid November.

In 24 hours post Shingles shot, I got hammered by side effects from some UNK fever, and blood was in my urine. A urine culture showed zero bacteria. I was put on 5 days of Cephalosporin and a fun trip to a urologist for a cystoscope, which showed zero problems. Later in the next calendar year, some doctor and RN friends felt that I was among the first in the Bay area to be rudely introduced to our new friend, Covid.

I also ended with a cardio/aortic stent during this wonderful time period.

I felt terrible from the second shot for shingles in November to about the middle of December. Also, I had the classic loss of smell and taste and many of the known problems with Covid. I lost about 10 pounds due to lack of appetite.

My wife decided to opt out of her second Shingles shot.

Weeks later, I got my first official Covid shot, on 01/31/21, and I got the red ring around where I got the shot. My RN wife and another RN felt that it might have been shingles. Then, on the 3~4th day post shot, the red itchy ring disappeared.

A good friend got the classic shingles rash around his waist after his 2nd shot. After his 3~4 day, his rash disappeared. Our docs felt that our shingles vaccines kicked in and worked.

I thought Shingles was one-sided?

Either you got it on your left side or your right, but not both?

I don’t remember where I heard that

she might want to try NAC and/or this product from lifeextension

https://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item01919/x-r-shield

seems to have helped me somewhat but by catalyst was a heavy metal not a vaccine.

Also wet sauna helps even if it is a placebo effect

...about the worst thing that can happen to you.

Then you've lived a very blessed life, health-wise.

Hubby had shingles. Got him to a doc within a few hours of onset of symptoms. Doc gave him a scrip for an antiviral and the outbreak amounted to an annoyance.

Neither of us are planning on getting a shingles vaxx in the near future.

I just got over them about 2 months ago. I always told myself to get the shot.

But the doctor told me that had I had come in on the first day, the acyclovir anti-viral drug would have stopped it immediately.

I said that was nice to know however when the first symptoms occurred, I thought I needed a chiropractic adjustment on my neck. Little did I know that was the shingles affecting my nerves in my left arm about 2 days before the blisters showed up. I went to the doctor on the second day after the blisters appeared.

I was fortunate that it was on my left hand and between a couple of fingers, but the tips of my little finger and ring finger are still numb. Still, the nerve pain was excruciating. Felt like every bone in my left hand and wrist was broken.

Why would you do that? There is nothing in that vaccine that prevents you from getting shingles. It’s a virus that comes from the chickenpox. We’ve lost our ever-loving Minds to believe these vaccines will bring any value to our lives

I have had a few friends that had shingles. Convinced me to get the Shingrex 2 dose.

The second dose was followed by an isolated case of mild shingles like symptoms on my forearms. Still better than to full blown cases.

Heavy doses of lysine will help with shingles.

Good to know. Lysine is cheap and readily available - got mine at WalMart.

I will never again voluntarily receive any vaccine.

Yes, I've had shingles.

If it makes you feel any better, most people only have shingles one time. :-)

thats interesting

they give Valacyclovir for genital herpes outbreak and supposedly it helps prevent.

i wonder if the people who take that are less likely to get shingles or more likely because they have a version of herpes in their body already

Amazing the things we can learn on FR when we aren’t screaming and calling each other a dummy.

You posted, “As of November 20th, 2020, the old vaccine can no longer be used in the USA. Interesting timing.”

I had my second shot of the older vaccine a little before Nov, 20th, 2020. That second shot hammered me or I was an early guy with Covid which was in the Bay area and supposedly no one knew anything about it.

Below is the link to my events with the Shingles vaccine, and now I know it was the older and now banned shot. Thanks to your post.

If you are one of those people who are afraid of vaccines, don't attack here, just move on to next thread.

Similar to Sars2 vaxxes, the new shingles vax is a sub-unit vaccine (It introduces a piece of the target virus to activate the immune system rather than the whole virus).

However, unlike the Sars2 vaxxes, this new shingles vax went through a 10 year long phase 3 trial before FDA authorization.

Has that been verified by an MD?

Yes, by my allergist, He said he has seen a number of cases. And at my last physical i told the nurse i wish i'd never gotten the vaccine and she told me that there are many other people who feel the same way.

It's called 'shingles" from the cingulum or "sash". For some reason it often tends to show up radially around the torso.

This is NOT the same shingles vaccine you got five years ago. Is it better? Mine was a one shot. Is the new one mRNA based?

This has been kept quiet and wrapped up and out of sight.
Thanks again.
