A B-29 flew overhead a couple of weeks ago. I think it was Fifi by its schedule.
Same; saw Fifi fly over about two weeks ago.
Several years ago I saw the B-29, FiFi. I saw it land and when it was parked, they sold tickets for you to climb up and walk through. That was quite a treat. I have walked through several B-17s over the years but never flew on any.
I got to climb inside Fifi and have a look 30+ years ago at an airshow. The pressurized tunnel that ran the whole length of the plane was tiny. There were definitely no fat guys in those aircrews.
For five years or so, FiFi was hangared at the Cavanuagh Flight Museum at the Addison, Texas airport... right across the street from my office. It was always a treat to drive past the airport when she was warming up... the prop wash had the mingled smells of a running top fuel dragster and the black plume of anthracite coal smoke of a steam locomotive. Just amazing to experience up close.
I was scheduled to go up in Fifi in June 2020 (right behind the pilot seat) and it got cancelled a week before due to COVID.
Sigh. That was a “bucket list” item for sure.
